The meetup right across from the stairs.
Michael Moore, a Web & GIS engineer at Cimbura, will be talking about mapping with WordPress and sharing a plugin he made that integrates CartoDB data with WordPress. We will also be giving an update about WordCamp Minneapolis and having an open discussion about topics for future meetups this year.
Geographic Information Science & WordPress
GIS (Geographic Information Science) is much more than just showing points on a map. It includes data analysis, spatial searching, cartography, location services and more. In WordPress, there are plenty of plugins for showing points on a map, but you’ll likely need to dig deeper if you want to do more.
In this presentation we will:
- Discuss what GIS is and why WordPress and GIS should be friends
- Look at several popular map/GIS related WordPress plugins
- Learn about out some cool GIS web services and libraries and how to use them in WordPress
